Some years ago, GOplastic supplied Govaplast materials for a boardwalk and viewing platform at Swansea Point, commissioned by Swansea Council. The site is a popular destination for both locals and tourists, thanks to its long sandy beach, coastal promenade, and breathtaking views.
About Swansea Point
Swansea Point covers 23 acres between Swansea Marina and the River Tawe, right in the heart of the Maritime Quarter. Its location makes it an ideal spot for a stroll, with easy access to the marina, a 46-space car park, and the famous Swansea Bay promenade. Just a short drive away lies the Gower Peninsula, the UK’s very first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, known for its dramatic coastline and charming bays. From Swansea Point, the views are simply stunning.
Why Govaplast?
Swansea Council specifically chose Govaplast materials for their durability in harsh coastal environments. Every element of the structure uses anti-slip, rot-free recycled plastic materials.
Govadeck decking boards
10×10 cm posts
A subframe built with 4×15 cm and 5×12 cm boards
This makes the boardwalk not only safe and long-lasting, but also an excellent example of sustainable design.
More about the company:
Mike Janes explains:
GOplastic has been established since 1999. We’re based in Hertfordshire and South Wales.
For the past 24 year we’ve been involved in the sales, supply, promotion and distribution of a wide range of products all manufactured from recycled plastic.
In 1999 stable manufactures started using recycled plastic T&G boards to build stables. As this sector grew, so too did the appetite for maintenance-free, recycled products in many other markets and UK sectors.
Supermarkets wanted bollards for car parks and benches for drop-off and waiting areas, councils used benches and seating for parks and opens spaces as well as sea fronts, and the education sector had many requirements for all age groups. There are many benefits for the housing sector in the UK and GOplastic also supplies a sustainable bin bay system into this ever-growing sector.
We are currently gaining specification on school, hospital, college, housing and university projects throughout the UK with our CPD (RIBA Certified Seminar) entitled ‘SPECIFYING RECYCLED PLASTIC PRODUCTS’.
